MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 9, 2023 — The City of Memphis launched a new pedestrian and cyclist safety campaign – “Getting There Together,” to raise awareness among Memphians about road safety and encourage drivers to slow down and make room for people walking or biking on city streets.
“Too many families have lost a loved one, or a family member has been injured because of traffic incidents. This campaign will remind people that our roads are for everyone, and we all have to do our part to make them safer,” said Allison Fouche’, Chief Communications Officer.
“Getting There Together” will be a multi-channel safety push featuring commercials, signs, digital ads, and shareable resources to educate citizens on how to be more careful on the roads. While everyone plays a part in making streets safer, the initiative pays special attention to drivers because of their increased burden of responsibility.
Deadly crashes on city streets have more than doubled since 2018. This campaign is vital for city safety, and we will be working with community organizations in their efforts to make our Memphis streets safer for everyone.
